Great points on the dipoles...
If you read the section on electronic crossovers for the woofer, you'll notice the need for a notch filter as well. This may or may not be important depending on the size of the panel.

As I mentioned in a post earlier a few weeks earlier, i bought 8 12 inch woofers with a Q around 1 do do a dipole project to go with my maggies. Plan to try a dual 4 x 1 stacked arrangement first. Will let all know how it goes when the sawdust settles. BTW, Madisound does have the Geffco woofers for sale now, for 55., but no measurements yet.
I have been interested in dipoles since my friend Marshall Kay, (another HP audio thinker) got into cahoots with Sigfried and started Audio Artistry. They build the speakers down in the Raliegh area, and i had an extended listen about a year ago. Awesome....but it does cost $25K....I think the maggies are a much better deal.

You may also want to check aout the Legacy Louspeakers - the top of the line are also dipoles - $$$ - but they talk a lot about the figure 8 response curves eliminating side wall/ceiling reflections, which is not given much ink elsewhere - and quite a valid point that I think is a contributor to the clean sound a dipole delivers.
