Tweak from Dan and Stereo Unlimited.

This is something that they did at Stereo Unlimited in Walnut Creek while I was there. They placed the speakers facing each other, and facing the side walls like this

Very unusual! And you know what? Its great!! At first I didn't like it, there seemed to be an empty space between the two where the sound just "dipped" a bit. My wife immediately liked it. After an hour of listening I realized that it was just like when you go to a concert hall, the sound doesn't push at you much but just fills the space as a living, breathing, liquid field of music. Later I toed them in a bit like this
-------------------------------------------

        \ /
         \ /
          \ /
           \ /

                You

This shows it more than I actually did it, but the effect was to "beam" the sound more like normal speakers do. You can play with this to get whatever degree of ambient sound field you want, experiment!

Happy listening.
