I believe Parts Connection has a kit specifically for
upgrading the IIIA's. They're at the sonic frontiers website,
the only problem is you may have to download one of the catalogs
in order to find the kits.
Just for convience sake, I'd go with bananas. Spade adapters
are wose due to the incresed number of contacts. If you replace binding posts, you alleviate the problem of only having the ability to
use bananas. But I haven't found any sonic improvements with anything
other than bananas, so, that's the cheapest and easiest route. With
the allen head set screw, it makes the connection quite good, with the possible exception of the nickel plating being a poorer conductor.
